Responsibilities:

  • Lead Junior and Journeyman level HVAC technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems that incorporate pneumatic, digital, and central energy management system controls.

  • Develop heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system modification plans and estimates jobs for remodel activities.

  • Create preventive maintenance checklists for new and existing equipment.

  • Interpret as-built building blueprints and recommends system modifications for remodel projects in accordance with applicable regulations.

  • Research and select materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Detailed knowledge of HVAC systems that incorporate digital control systems and are linked to a multi-building, computer-based Energy Management and Control System. (EMCS).

  • Work independently and without supervision

  • Lead and train staff.

  • Direct support of facilities department projects as required by Facility Manager.

  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to maintain professional appearance of personal uniform and work spaces.

  • Possiblitiy of some travel required.

Job Functions:

  • HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.

  • Prepare engineering documents, specifications and cost estimates for projects.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

  • Develop heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system modification plans.

  • Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

  • Read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals.

  • Document and track preventive maintenance activities.

  • Maintenance of mechanical systems, building materials, and quick response in emergency situations.

  • Assess HVAC systems for inefficiencies, find the source or malfunction and make the necessary repairs and adjustments to assure efficient functionality of all systems.

  • Serve as an escort for vendors and contractors.

  • The ability to work directly with customers, other technicians, and managers is required; this includes excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Primary Areas of Expertise Include:

  • Building Automation Systems

  • Operational knowledge working with Metasys and Niagara based systems

  • Chilled water systems, chiller plant operations.

  • Lager boilers and cooling towers

  • Large control systems (pneumatic and digital)

  • Computer a/c units

  • VAV systems

  • Complex conventional electrical controls such as VFD, ATS, and MCCs.

  • Rooftop HVAC units and heat pumps

  • Rooftop package systems (30 tons and larger)

  • DX systems and other commercial data center HVAC/R equipment

  • Area of expertise to include general maintenance skills such as basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.

Requirements:

  • Master level experience troubleshooting, servicing and repairing HVAC equipment

  • Journeyman’s or Master’s HVAC License

  • Completion of applicable trade school (preferred, but not required)

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations

  • Skilled in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • EPA certification

  • Able to lift 60 pounds.

  • Must have valid driver’s license

  • Must have a clean driving record

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

  • Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance.

  • Ability to work and be exposed to outside weather conditions and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, paint fumes, solvents, adhesives, etc.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Ability to support critical maintenance outside of regular business hours and holidays.

  • Other facilities oriented duties as assignd.

  • Time will be divided between our Westminster and Longmont facilities
