Seeking an experienced Space Systems Engineer with “hands-on” experience and oversight in the manufacture, assembly, test and acceptance of electro-optical (EO) imaging payloads. The candidate will be expected to work in a collaborative environment with minimal supervision as DigitalGlobe’s on-site representative at the instrument contractor’s facility. The candidate will provide status on the progress, issues, and key information of the instrument program to DigitalGlobe’s engineering team and management. This position will be in El Segundo, CA
This role is available as FTE, or in a contracting/consultative capacity.
The Space Systems Engineer will bridge the gap and work with both the DigitalGlobe and the Contractor’s engineering teams to help ensure successful execution of the EO program design and IV&V plan. The Space Systems Engineer will:
Review and monitor task schedules and execution, and report periodic status to the program manager and engineering team
Attend and report on systems engineering reviews and meetings (e.g., design reviews, test readiness reviews, data reviews)
Observe test operations such that all tests are completed in accordance with the contract, test procedures, standard processes, and applicable regulations
Review and communicate test results to DigitalGlobe management and engineering teams
Review any test anomalies and resolutions, including direct observation on the test floor and anomaly reviews
Minimum of 12 years of experience in the development and/or test of Electro-Optical (EO) instruments intended for the space environment
Demonstrated experience with Raytheon Instrument system engineering and IV&V procedures and processes
Experience in requirements development and management
Knowledge of space environmental test requirements, methods and practices
Self-starter, ability to execute job assignments with minimal supervision
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Demonstrated technical experience in the design, integration and test of electro-optical instruments and supporting electronics
Experience in passive and/or active sensor design and development, and the technologies that support these sensor systems
Experience with space-qualified parts, materials, and processes (PM&P)
Experience in Program or Project Management
Experience in writing and presenting technical presentations, detailing complex analyses across multiple levels of the organization.
- Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following fields: Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field.
- Masters or PhD in Optics, Physics or Engineering.
